Special Contender is one of the few APHA stallions sired by the legendary Special Effort and out of a AAA daughter of Bully Bullion.  His pedigree is packed full of Champions.  There is not a weak spot to be found.

Contender was showing exceptional promise of following in his sires footsteps as an exceptional race horse.  On his first official out at the futurity trials he was bumped and cracked two cannon bones.  Despite this, he still finished the race an impressive second place.   He is however, proving himself to be a great sire-  To date he has sired several AAAT and AAA runners including  2010 Champion Running 3yo Filly

Special Contender was sired by, Special Effort SI-104 AAAT- AQHA Hall of Fame Stallion.    Special Effort was the first 2-year-old in history to surpass $1 million in earnings, and is the only two-year-old to ever win all three summer futurities at Ruidoso Downs and take the Triple Crown. Named the 1981 World Champion, Special Effort went on to win the Kansas Derby-G1 as a 3-year-old, retiring with earnings of $1,219,949.

Special Contenders dam, Betty Bullion has an impressive record of SI 90, with earnings of $12,700    She is the dam of Hez Real Flashy, si 94, G1 Futurity winner, earner of $72,201, Shez Real Flashy SI 90 earner of $12,794,  and Flashem Betty SI 94, G1/G2 Futurity Money Earner of $39,367 as well as being the 2008 Champion Running 2YO Filly.

Betty Bullion was sired by Bully Bullion, SI 104 (by Special Effort, si 104, out of Mary Poppins, si 95) is an AQHA Racing Champion, and a stakes winner with earnings of $225,384.

Betty Bullions dam, Easy Country Music has a SI 84. She is also the dam to Raise A Runner, 1987 World Champion Running Paint Horse (SI 90- $40,694.42), R Country Moon (SI 84- $15,371.00), Open Country (SI 82- $12,831.97) Easy Country Music is a FULL SISTER to one of the most influential racing sires in APHA history, Easy Jet Too ( 1983 Champion Running Two-Year-Old- SI 95 -$35,334.27) as well as, Easy Rose (SI 94- $11,938.72), Easy Winner (SI 91- $14,123.97), and Western Music (SI 96- $22,267.36). She is a maternal sister to Cherokee Indian ( 1980 World Champion Running Paint Horse- SI 95- $13,450.55 )

Easy Country Music sire, Easy Jet SI 100 (by Jet Deck, out of Lenas Bar, by Three Bars) Earner of $445,723 and an AQHA Hall of Fame inductee. He was named 1969 AQHA World Champion Quarter Running Horse, 1969 Champion Quarter Running Stallion, 1969 Champion Quarter Running 2 Year Old Colt, 1970 Champion Quarter Running Stallion, and 1970 Champion Quarter Running 3 Year Old Colt. He also won the All-American Fut.

Her dam, Indian Music is a World Champion Producer, and has produced numerous ROM Race Offspring. She is considered by many to be a "Blue Hen Mare".
